Sydney artist Laura Moore has won a new digital art prize with an emotional self-portrait of herself as a teary schoolgirl.

The 25-year-old sat in front of the camera for hours and made herself cry by remembering the worst parts of her school years.

One of the iD Digital Portraiture Award judges, Chris Chapman from the National Portrait Gallery, said school brought up a range of memories for most people.
